Drawing & Sculpting the Human Face (5th- 12th)
with Michael Symber
Ages: 10 - 18
$240
This class is designed for specifically for tweens & teens!
Being a sculptor, I am excited to offer this class, because it sheds light on the way my drawings relate to my three-dimensional work. As artists we often observe people or objects and turn them into two-dimensional drawings, but I teach this class in the opposite direction.
Students will use pencil, graphite, and various blending and shading tools that may be new to them as they study each element of the human face. Drawings will be detailed and realistic compositions. The subtleties of the eye, nose, mouth, ear etc. are often what students ask me to learn most. Moving forward, we will make realistic clay sculptures FROM our drawings! These beautiful sculptures will be fired in a kiln and framed alongside our studies. Learning both skills truly cements the idea of form for artists, and will be a powerful tool in their careers!
I hope you will find this 2-D, 3-D connection to be as exciting as I do!
This is 4 session class will run on Thursdays, 4:00- 5:30pm; 1/15/26, 1/22/26, 1/29/26 & 2/5/26.
