George Seurat: Pointillism (Kindergarten-6th grade)

with Michael Symber

$200

This class is designed for artists in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.

In 1886, The artists Georges Seurat and Paul Signac developed the painting technique of painting with very small points of color as opposed to blending the paint.  The term Pointillism was actually used by critics at the time to make fun of these artists in a cruel way.  Little did they know that the style as well as the named would survive as an inventive form of Impressionism.  Georges Seurat found that the ability of the eye and the mind of the viewer to blend these dots of paint through sight could allow the use of more colors, and a broader range of tone in his paintings.

Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of landscape drawing such as how to use horizon lines, Drawing tress, and knowing their parts, and drawing the scene in perspective.  These may seem like difficult concepts for budding artists, but I promise you, they can do it!!!

Please join us and create your masterpiece!
