Many of our students from fifth grade to high school are absolute masters of sketching, shading, and rendering in pencil. I love to build on incredible skills, and strengthen students’ powers of observation. In this class, we will all sit around one huge table covered with paper. In the center?A life-size human skeleton! As everyone draws, they will see different parts from a different perspective. This strengthens individual confidence, knowledge of the human anatomy for artists, and drawing in perspective, including for shortening! The end product creates one enormous circular image of a ring of interlocking bones!Fun and challenging!Register now if you have skills and want even more!

Pencil and Prismacolor/How to Draw Dinosaurs (3rd to 8th grade)

$240

with Michael Symber

Calendar Oct 30, 2025 at 4 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Ages: 8 - 14

This class is specifically designed for artists in 3rd through 8th grade.

Learn how to draw realistic dinosaurs!

All of my life I have told people, “If you want to learn about something... draw it.”  This is absolutely true of animals! Through drawing, you will learn far more than just how they appear. OBSERVE how they stand, how they sleep, what makes them happy or angry. Use Art to research where the animal lives, and what it eats.

We will begin with the drawing fundamentals shape, proportion, light, shadow, and texture. Soon enough, however, students will get their own sketchbooks and set of graphite pencils to keep studies of their favorite animals! NOW, learn to use those same principles to draw with the incredible Prismacolor colored pencils!

Passion is what makes us great artists, so if you love animals and have an interest in biology, please grab this great opportunity!

This 4 session class runs Thursdays, 4:00pm -5:30pm; 10/30/25, 11/6/25, 11/13/25, & 11/20/25.

Payment plan available: $100 deposit plus 2 payments of $70.00, paid every four weeks.

Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night in Oil Pastels (Kindergarten through 5th Grade)

$240

with Michael Symber

Calendar Nov 3, 2025 at 4 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Ages: 5 - 13

This class is specifically designed for artists in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Re-create Vincent Van Gogh's iconic Starry Night using oil pastels.

Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade, he created approximately 2,100 works of art.It is therefore surprising that only few of his paintings are immediately recognized, and that details about his life are vague to many. This class is designed to teach young artists his thoughts about creating art as well as Vincent’s love of giving people happiness with his art. We will show students how the composition of Starry Night was influenced by Japanese Art and is almost completely based on Hokusai’s Great Wave print. We will also show them how to use oil pastels and the color theory that Vincent used to make his stars shine brighter.

This 4 session class will run on Mondays, 4:00-5:30 pm; 11/3/25, 11/10/25, 11/17/25 and 11/24/25.

Payment plan available: $100 deposit plus 2 payments of $70.00, paid every four weeks.
