The word Abstract in Art is a tricky one. The word is used in conversations all the time, but is it really understood? And where does abstract art come from? By definition, abstract can mean something changed from the traditional image that we are used to, such as Picasso moving the parts of the face interchangeably. However, the definition that artists adore most is, “Something that is only a thought or idea, but has no physical existence.”That is, until artists bring it to life before our eyes! This class walks students through several Art-making processes that generate abstract images. We then encourage students to continue the work independently in their own direction.Classes will be structured as a lesson to teach the process, and then as a guided studio time. This is the perfect opportunity for a thoughtful growing artist to challenge their creative thinking. Students should be open minded, and able to work independently.
This class runs on Mon. 6/23/25, Tues.6/24/25, Wed. 6/25/25, & Thurs.6/26/25; 11:00am-12:30pm
