with Michael Symber
Ages: 5 - 13
$240
This class is specifically designed for artists in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Re-create Vincent Van Gogh's iconic Starry Night using oil pastels.
Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade, he created approximately 2,100 works of art.It is therefore surprising that only few of his paintings are immediately recognized, and that details about his life are vague to many. This class is designed to teach young artists his thoughts about creating art as well as Vincent’s love of giving people happiness with his art. We will show students how the composition of Starry Night was influenced by Japanese Art and is almost completely based on Hokusai’s Great Wave print. We will also show them how to use oil pastels and the color theory that Vincent used to make his stars shine brighter.
This 4 session class will run on Mondays, 4:00-5:30 pm; 11/3/25, 11/10/25, 11/17/25 and 11/24/25.
