Making art is all about playing. Artists have to experiment with materials and mark-making before they find their style.Many of us can recognize a Picasso, a van Gogh, or a Frida Kahlo very quickly, but what makes those Works so recognizable?This 6 week workshop will give you the chance to play with many different techniques and materials without pressure. This is a chance to simply see what they do. Which ones look cool, and which ones are not for you. No experiences needed for this class except a wonderful, curiosity and appreciation for the arts! Please join us and take home 8 finished artworks or your landscape!

This is a 6 week workshop: Fridays, 10:00am-12:00pm; 3/15, 3/22, (SKIP  3/29), 4/5, 4/12, 4/19 (SKIP 4/26) and 5/3/24.

After this 6 week session, a sequential class will be offered: One Landscape: More Techniques, where students from the first session will be invited to develop their skills even more by diving into more methods of drawing, painting and sculpting.

This class is specifically designed for adults. 

The term ILLUMINATION is used to describe the art of decorating manuscripts through the application of gold and silver. Literally to “light up“ or “enlighten“ the text. Students will create an intensely detailed, beautiful, and magical piece inspired by this form of CALLIGRAPHY. Learn to use gold leaf, gouache, and India ink in our studio full of mindfulness. Our Part Two follow up of this class will be a full workshop learning to write in several styles of calligraphy to make use of your Illumination! 

This 4 week class runs on Fridays 10:00-12:00pm starting August 23rd;

8/23/24, 8/30/24, 9/06/24 & 9/13/24.

This class is specifically designed for adult artists.

The Huichol people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico, create astounding, colorful paintings made of yarn. Images are drawn on a wooden board, and then the surface is covered with sticky beeswax. This holds the entire painting together!In this week, course, students will create scenes of the ocean. Schools of fish, coral, sea plants and more, Will come to life as we use this unique technique of the Huichol people to paint with yarn!

This 5 session class runs on Tuesday evenings, 6:00-8:00pm; August 27, September 3, 10, 17, & 24th.

This class is specifically designed for adults.

The word calligraphy is derived from an ancient Greek word meeting “beautiful writing”. In this age of computers, fonts, and AI, return to the art of handwriting with us. Using ink, bamboo brushes, and quill pens, we will study and practice, Italic Hand, German Black Letter, and Chinese Calligraphy . Please join us, and allow your mind to return to the moments of letter writing, and hand-written manuscripts.

This 4 session class will run on Fridays 10:00-12:00pm; 9/20/24, 9/27/24, 10/4/24 & 10/11/24.
